Free The Knees
A 2-hour, experiential workshop for anyone ready to WEAR THE DAMN SHORTS (or tank top, or swimsuit) and stop hiding their body.
July 29th | Noon ET
You have been tricked into believing
your body is the problem.
Go ahead. Give me your best eye-roll. 🙄
It’s a hard to believe that your body is not the problem when you’ve been told your whole life that your body IS the problem.
But that’s my point.
YOU HAVE BEEN LIED TO.
Feeling afraid to wear the shorts or the tank top or the swimsuit because of what your body LOOKS LIKE is not a body problem.
It’s a shame problem.
Shame tells us our legs are disgusting. Our bellies are “supposed to be” flat. Our stretch marks are ugly. Our jiggly arms are a sin.
So we hide them. To avoid the pain of being seen in “imperfect” bodies. 💔
In this workshop, we're going to practice having our own backs when shame shows up.
I will teach you how to interrupt the shame spiral, feel the difference between danger and discomfort, and remember what it's like to be a person with a body. 🙌
I thought my body was the problem.
For years, I thought my body was the problem.
Not shame. My body.
I thought my legs were disgusting. That’s the actual word I would use. DISGUSTING.
I wouldn't wear shorts. Or leggings. Or a swimsuit.
I wasn't embarrassed of my legs.
I didn’t feel “a little insecure."
I thought I was carrying an unfortunate body.
Then my daughter was born. She came into the world with both craniofacial and limb differences. And from the very first moment I looked at her, I thought she was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
Not beautiful despite her body.
Beautiful. Period.
It didn't take long for the realization to hit me. If her body wasn't a problem...then mine wasn't either. That realization unraveled everything I thought I knew about bodies.
I had spent decades trying to fix the wrong thing. It wasn't my body that needed changing. It was my relationship to it that needed changing. That didn't happen overnight. It took time. Practice. One new experience after another. But little by little, shame stopped getting the final word.
Now, at 51 years old, I wear the shorts. I wear the leggings. I wear the swimsuits. Not because I finally earned them. Because I finally stopped believing that my body was the problem.
Sometimes I still can't believe it. I was so convinced my body was the problem that I couldn't imagine another possibility. And yet... here I am. Completely in love with the experience of having a body.
If my relationship with my body could change this much... I just know yours can too. 💗
Hiding at 30. Free at 50.
Same body. Different relationship.what would happen if shame
didn’t get the final word?
I have no interest in trying to convince you to love your body, to wear the shorts, to be “confident”, or to experience your body any differently than you do right now. I'm simply here to offer another possibility.
➡ A possibility that shame doesn't have to have the final say.
➡ A possibility that you can have your own back when shame does show up.
➡ A possibility that you can spend more time reveling in the experience of having a body then in the experience of monitoring your body.
I’m inviting you to IMAGINE a different way of being in relationship with your good good body. 💗
This Workshop Is For You If...
➡ You've spent more years criticizing your body than appreciating it.
➡ You wear long pants and long sleeves — even though it's 1000 degrees out — because you think something is wrong with your body.
➡ You've skipped the pool, beach, hot tub, or water park because you didn't want to be seen in your swimsuit.
➡ You know your body isn't the problem... yet the thought of freeing your knees (or arms, or belly, or butt) scares the pants off you.
➡ You don't want to be forced to "love your body." You just want to feel the breeze against your skin and not be hyper-focused on the size of your damn thighs.
➡ You want practical tools for having your own back when the mean girl inside your head starts yammering on and on about how you've "let yourself go."
➡ You want a relationship with your body that feels supportive, respectful, and kind.

What People ARE SAYING
about the workshop.
awareness doesn’t mean “healed by friday”.
WHAT This workshop is NOT...
This is not a "change your life in two hours" workshop. You will not be expected to free your knees by Friday.
Shame has had years—maybe decades—to convince you that your body is something to judge, criticize, hide, or fix. We're not going to undo all of that in one afternoon.
What we are going to do is begin interrupting that old shame pattern. We'll learn what to do when shame shows up, and then we'll spend time strengthening a different relationship with your body—one rooted in curiosity, appreciation, and the remarkable experience of having a body.
This means...
✓ You don't have to stop having shaming thoughts. The goal isn't to eliminate them—it's to learn how to stop believing and obeying every one of them.
✓ You don't have to come in loving your body... and you don't have to leave loving your body either. That's a relationship that grows over time.
✓ You only have to be willing to consider that another way is possible. Even for you.
Inside the workshop
Come wearing the thing that shame has convinced you you shouldn't wear.
🩳 Maybe it's the shorts because of your cellulite.
🎽 The tank top because of your arms.
👙 The swimsuit because of your belly.
Or maybe it's something completely different.
We'll spend two hours noticing noticing what it feels like when shame shows up, practice interrupting it before it hijacks your day, and discover that you don't have to believe everything it tells you. Along the way, I'll invite you to experiment with a completely different way of relating to your good body—not by changing it, but by remembering your body is a g’damn wonderland.
